Digital Makeover
“Digital Makeover of the Spirit” is an artistic interpretation of the lines and codes related to Haitian Vodou Art. This augmented reality exhibition is a collaboration of the “Visage de Mes Chemins” (Faces of My Path) series created by Dr. Petrouchka Moise and the digital art of IG@VodouRenaissance. The exhibition showcases a contemporary look at Haitian Veve art and how the interpretation of lwas (deities) is reclaimed and repositioned within the digital art of artificial intelligence (AI)

Although Haitian culture has been discussed and celebrated more in the past decade than it has in the last 100 years, Haitian Vodou art is still often associated with stigmas surrounding its folklore, artistry, and heritage. This exhibition will explore the importance of Haitian Vodou contribution to the discussion of hero-making through visual identity.

Vodou Traditions
Veve in Haitian Vodou is a sacred geometric design often drawn on the ground during rituals to invoke specific spirits or laws. It is typically created by strewing a powder-like substance, such as cornmeal, wheat flour, wood ash, or even red brick powder or gunpowder, onto a surface, often the earthen floor of a peristyle (temple).
